TORQ Sports
How Tech is Transforming the Athlete Journey Join TORQ Sports for an exclusive fireside chat with former Olympians, professional athletes, and NCAA D1 coaches as we explore the seismic shifts reshaping both recruitment and the Sports Industry the in the digital age. The $1.67B NIL market is revolutionizing how young athletes build careers, transforming the traditional path from youth sports to professional success. Our panel of former Olympians, professional athletes, and NCAA D1 coaches will explore how social media and technology are rewriting the rules of the game. Today's athletes are becoming content creators and entrepreneurs before they graduate high school—viral moments and digital presence now matter as much as on-field performance in determining who gets discovered and who gets paid. This shift is creating extraordinary opportunities while disrupting established systems, effectively opening untapped revenue streams in underserved communities while creating scalable, data-driven solutions that challenge incumbent players. Our panelists will share insights on where smart capital is flowing, which technologies are gaining traction, and how early-stage companies can position themselves to capture value in this rapidly evolving landscape where 27.3M youth athletes and their families represent a massive, digitally-native customer base hungry for innovation. Designing Tech & Norms That Make Good Contagious Sometimes it's hard to believe, but people are far more good to each other than not. We even have the research to prove it. Yet, we're in an era where technology and social media often amplify negativity, reward sharing outrage, and monetize division. Can we reclaim social sharing norms and tweak them to support human well-being? Can we develop new social tools that harness human psychology to foster prosocial behavior? Those are two of the questions our expert panel will address in this thought-provoking discussion. Join us on October 15 in Pasadena as we bring together storytellers, behavioral scientists, and technologists to explore how we can reimagine technology for happiness, connection, and human flourishing. We'll discuss why so much of our digital environment feels wired for stress, what science tells us about joy and resilience, and how we can shift the narrative and norms toward prosocial choices and positive impact. Whether you're a designer, product developer, educator, content creator, or simply someone who wants to understand how technology shapes our collective well-being, you'll walk away with: - An understanding of the psychological principles tech components leverage to trigger different responses and behaviors. - Ideas on designing tools and services that move beyond reliance on negativity and increase positive human engagement. - Real-world connections with others who want to spread stories of human goodness and leverage technology to encourage positive human outcomes. ** Bonus ** And the ideas won't stop when the panel discussion ends. Every attendee receives a complimentary, one-year Next Big Idea Club subscription (valued at $99) to continue exploring ideas and concepts from the world's preeminent thinkers. Our panelists include featured NBIC authors. Our Panelists Gabriel Reilich is Head of Content & Innovation at GOOD & Upworthy. Devoted to his mission of spreading optimism; he believes the internet can be a force for good and is dedicated to leveraging it to amplify the best of humanity. He has created content and crafted impactful campaigns for numerous respected brands, nonprofits, and non-governmental organizations, including Google, GoFundMe, and the World Food Programme. He is the co-author of "GOOD PEOPLE: Stories from the Best of Humanity" a New York Times Best Seller and Next Big Idea Club featured book. Gloria Mark, PhD, is Chancellor's Professor Emerita at UC Irvine, where she has spent more than two decades studying how people interact with technology. A psychologist specializing in human-computer interaction, her research examines how digital media affects our attention, multitasking, mood, and behavior in real-world environments. She is the author of "Attention Span," a Next Big Idea Club featured book, and her work has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, The Atlantic, and numerous other outlets. Vince Lynch is the CEO of IV.AI and serves on the advisory board for The World Ethical Data Forum. Over his 12-year career in the AI space, and work with IV.AI he has helped create scalable AI products with Netflix, Uber, Samsung, Disney, Walmart, Capital One, Estée Lauder, among many other businesses, and was named in the UN’s AI 100 for his work on disinformation and misinformation. Lynch was the host of The AI Review and has been featured in numerous publications, including Wired, The Washington Post, NYT, CNBC, CNN, and BBC, discussing the value of NLP, LLMs, and the structures we can build to balance bias with generative model performance.

The Atmosphere: "Hollywood's New Algorithm" will be an exclusive, salon-style gathering held at the contemporary and inspiring Creator Space LA in Santa Monica. Presented by: Hollo AI | Hollo.ai Syndicate | www.joinsyndicate.co Hustle Fund | www.hustlefund.vc Fliqs Media | https://fliqsmedia.com/ Crowdaa | https://crowdaa.com/ The event is meticulously designed to foster high-level, interactive conversation, moving beyond the passive format of traditional conferences. The environment will be sophisticated and tech-forward, reflecting the fusion of Hollywood's creative legacy with Silicon Valley's relentless innovation. Every detail, from the ambient lighting to the layout of networking zones, will be optimized to encourage meaningful dialogue and the formation of strategic partnerships. The primary objective is to convene the brightest minds and most influential figures at the confluence of media and technology. This includes studio executives grappling with new production paradigms, venture capitalists seeking the next breakout platform, visionary founders building disruptive technologies, and master creators exploring new forms of storytelling. The event will serve as a forum to debate and define the responsible and profitable integration of AI into every facet of the entertainment value chain. The agenda is structured to tackle the industry's most pressing questions head-on, from the complex ethical dilemmas surrounding synthetic media and the creative workforce, as highlighted by the 2023 Hollywood strikes 4, to the groundbreaking new monetization models enabled by AI-driven real-time localization and hyper-personalization. A carefully curated, invitation-only community of 200-250 industry leaders. In a demonstration of the very technology under discussion, every prospective attendee will be vetted by our proprietary AI Event Host. This intelligent system ensures an exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratio, creating an unparalleled networking environment for investors from premier firms like MaxNX Ventures and Hustle Fund, the most promising startups from accelerators like Manos, and senior executives from the world's leading media and technology incumbents. The result is a room where every conversation has the potential to spark a deal, a partnership, or a breakthrough idea. Beyond Generation: From Creative Augmentation to Agentic Ecosystems Deliberately chosen to elevate the industry discourse beyond the now-commonplace topic of generative AI. While the ability of AI to generate text, images, and video is transformative, it represents only the first wave of this technological revolution. The true frontier, and the focus of this event, lies in the development and integration of "agentic AI"—sophisticated systems capable of understanding context, pursuing goals, and dynamically managing complex workflows with minimal human intervention. This evolution is giving rise to entirely new, self-sustaining creative ecosystems, from "living games" that evolve in real-time based on player interaction to autonomous post-production pipelines that can localize content for global audiences instantaneously. The Nexus of Creativity and Code The entertainment industry stands at a historic inflection point, a moment of profound transformation driven by the rapid proliferation of artificial intelligence. This event, "Hollywood's New Algorithm," is conceived as the definitive gathering for investors, creators, and technologists at the intersection of AI and entertainment during the vibrant ecosystem of LA Tech Week. It is designed to move beyond the speculative hype that often surrounds emerging technologies to address the strategic, ethical, and economic realities of an industry being fundamentally rewritten by code. AI is evolving from a discrete "tool" used for isolated tasks into a foundational "operating system" for the entire lifecycle of content creation, distribution, and monetization. This event will dissect this monumental transition, with a particular focus on the shift from simple generative applications to the deployment of complex, agentic ecosystems that promise to redefine creative and business workflows.1 For sponsors and partners, "Hollywood's New Algorithm" presents an unparalleled opportunity to establish definitive thought leadership and forge connections with a pre-qualified, high-impact audience of key decision-makers. The event is meticulously curated to attract the very individuals who are funding, building, and scaling the next generation of media technology. For attendees, it offers a curated, five-hour immersion into the technologies, strategies, and business models that will define the next decade of entertainment. The discussions will span the entire media landscape, from the cinematic frontiers of film and television to the dynamic, AI-driven worlds of music and gaming. The evening is structured around a series of high-caliber panel discussions, forward-looking keynotes from industry leaders, and a showcase of cutting-edge innovation from emerging startups. A highlight of the event's unique structure is its exclusive, curated networking environment, facilitated by a proprietary AI Event Host that qualifies every attendee to ensure a high signal-to-noise ratio. This, combined with a dedicated startup pitch platform and a roster of influential sponsors including MaxNX Ventures, Hustle Fund, Hollo.AI, Manos Accelerator, and Syndicate, solidifies "Hollywood's New Algorithm" as the most critical and value-driven event on the LA Tech Week calendar for anyone serious about the future of entertainment. The Agenda: A Five-Hour Immersion into the Future The evening's agenda is strategically structured to build momentum and maximize value for every participant. The flow is designed to mirror the industry's own journey with AI: it begins with fostering human connection during the networking reception, transitions into a deep exploration of the ethical and creative implications, then delves into the profound business and operational transformations, showcases the next wave of innovators, and culminates in a synthesis of these threads into a cohesive investment thesis. This narrative arc ensures a coherent and progressively insightful experience for all attendees. This event is a part of #LATechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.

Join Edelman and Tech:LA for a happy hour and panel on how to effectively build campaigns with creators in the gaming space. With the gaming audience becoming core drivers of online culture, creators are increasingly important for driving sentiment and engagement for brands. But to do this, campaigns need to be collaborations, rather than product briefings. How can brands navigate this audience desire for creator authenticity, while still delivering the core idea of their campaign? How do brands reach this authenticity while ensuring safety for their brand, and consistency of messaging? Tyler Vaught, Global Head of Creator Marketing, will moderate a conversation exploring the ways creators want brands to brief them and collaborate with them to deliver campaigns their audience wants to see. Our panellists are: Ryan Romeos - Senior Director of Gaming Marketing, HP Cami Magnuson - Global Influencer Marketing Manager, Bethesda Alanah Pearce - Creator, Developer and Journalist This event is a part of #LATechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem.
