Lets get the LA Bioeconomy brewing
Santa Monica
·
Founders, Friends & Fermentation, Saku Biosciences
Los Angeles is brewing a new kind of future, one where biology is the engine of innovation. 🌱⚗️
This is the first gathering of the LA chapter of Founders, Friends & Fermentation: a community happy hour bringing together scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, founders, investors, and friends who want to lead the creation of the LA bioeconomy.
The bioeconomy isn’t just about medicine, it’s about building a sustainable world enabled by environmental biotechnology, agricultural biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, synthetic biology, gene and genome engineering, microbial ecology and the sciences and technologies that amplify their impact.
Together, these fields are shaping a future rooted in biology that can transform:
🌊 Water Tech & Bioremediation
🌱 AgTech & Sustainable Foods
🌍 ClimateTech & Decarbonization
🧪 Industrial Biotech & Biomanufacturing
🧬 Synthetic Biology & Genetic Engineering
🏗 Novel Materials & Biofabrication
🌳 Environmental Biotechnology
This gathering is about building the bridges between the lab, the startup, the investor, and the community—because biology’s biggest breakthroughs happen when diverse minds connect.
Whether you’re a scientist dreaming about scaling your ideas, an engineer prototyping the future, an investor looking for the next wave of innovation, or simply someone excited about sustainability, this is your invitation to brew the bioeconomy with us. 🍻
✨ All are welcome—like any strong microbial culture, we thrive on diversity.

Dawn Patrol - Coffee, Companies, & Capital
We are back hosting our 3rd Dawn Patrol in a row at LA Techweek!
Dawn Patrol is our morning founder event series focused on bringing together people and ideas that support startups on their journeys to raising capital.
I started Dawn Patrol because it turns out putting people in a room with alcohol isn't the best formula for creating great connections in the startup community and improving founders' ability to raise capital.
At DP, we focus on kicking off the day with great people, delicious coffee, and guided/interactive elements led by me (Jason!) to ensure people get the most out of an event!
This event is a part of #LATechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.
THANK YOU to Gunderson Dettmer, the premier law firm servicing startups and VC firms, for supporting this event. Make sure you say hi to Jared at the event, he's great and is always looking to help.

Pedal & Network: Tech Cyclists @ LA Tech Week
Join us during LA Tech Week for a unique meetup that combines tech and cycling. Hosted by Instafill.ai, this ride brings together founders, builders, VCs and tech professionals who share a passion for bikes and the outdoors.
We’ll start at the Santa Monica Pier and ride into the Santa Monica Mountains via Sullivan Fire Road before looping back. The full ride will take about 2.5 hours. There’s also an option to join from Playa Vista at around 7:30 AM and meet the rest of the crown in Santa Monica.
This is a gravel ride — gravel or XC mountain bikes are recommended.
No bike? No problem. You can rent one at Bike Attack in Playa Vista, or borrow one of the host’s two XC mountain bikes (sizes M and S available, note the S has Shimano clipless pedals).
This is a casual ride (zone 2) — a chance to network with fellow tech folks outside the usual conference rooms, enjoy the climb and views, and connect over a shared love for cycling.
