/ About this event

Why did one candidate choose a $750,000 offer over one worth $1.5 million?

Why did one recruiting change add 2,751 candidates to a company’s pipeline?

And why did another cause more than 20,000 candidates to leave—costing the company 2,000 hires in five months?

Most companies don’t have a series of hiring problems.

They have a system that keeps producing hiring problems.

A candidate never replies. Another loses interest halfway through. Your strongest finalist chooses someone else. Each looks like a separate problem, so the team rewrites the job description, searches for more people, or raises the offer.

The problems appear separate. They aren’t.

At AWS and Meta, I recruited executives and technical leaders in some of the most competitive talent markets, including AI, machine learning, security, and infrastructure.

I’ll share what I learned about getting sought-after candidates to respond, stay engaged, and choose your team—even when another company can offer more money.

Drawing on economics, game theory, systems thinking, cybernetics, and AI, we’ll look at the hidden system behind who responds, who withdraws, and who ultimately says yes.

In 45 minutes, you’ll learn:

1. Why qualified candidates ignore outreach—and how to earn responses that start a real conversation.

2. How nontraditional marketing techniques can reach candidates who aren’t looking for another job.

3. How to uncover the obstacle behind a candidate’s objection before you lose the chance to address it.

4. What a study of 36,000 sales conversations reveals about moving someone forward without pitching harder.

5. How to apply Game Theory in Negotiation to change the information, alternatives, incentives, timing, and possibilities when increasing the offer isn’t enough.

6. How to measure four points where your hiring system may be losing people: talent supply versus demand, response, withdrawal, and offer acceptance.

You’ll leave with practical methods you can use immediately—and a way to see where your hiring process may be losing candidates you could have hired.
