Getting quantum into the next supercomputer is a chip fab problem, an advanced manufacturing problem, a data center infrastructure problem, and a software problem on top of being a quantum one. The people who can solve those are already in the tech industry. What they have not seen is what these machines need to scale, and the opportunities the machines could offer in return.
GPUs did not become AI supercomputers because a chip company decided they would. Developers outside that company found things worth running on them at scale and built the tools to do it. Chip fabrication kept improving underneath them. Quantum is at that inflection point now, and AI is accelerating it beyond what anyone expected. The quantum hardware is real, scaling up, and tightly coupled to GPUs and CPUs. How it converges with applications at industry scale is still open.
