The college admissions journey is changing, and AI is accelerating that change. For families preparing students for college, the old playbook of perfect grades, test scores, extracurriculars, and a polished essay is no longer enough. Students are entering a world where artificial intelligence is changing how they learn, how they apply to college, what they study, and ultimately what careers will exist when they graduate. During SF Tech Week, Adams Harris Consulting brings together parents, educators, college counselors, and technology leaders for a candid conversation about how families can prepare teenagers for college and careers in an AI-driven world. Underneath all of it sits a quieter problem. Nobody publishes the knowledge that would help you most. It moves between people, and it may never reach your family. Closing that gap is why we built this firm, and it is also why we run this evening a particular way. This event is for parents and families. Students are not in the room, and that is deliberate. The most useful conversations about this process are the ones you cannot have with your teenager sitting next to you. Educators, school counselors, college-access organizations, and people building in this space are welcome. The conversation is better with you in it. MEET OUR PANELISTS Jesus Moran, College Counselor, LVL Prep; Customer Success Representative, Overgrad Jesus graduated from Manual Arts High School in 2012 and was one of the first from his school to attend Harvard, where he earned his degree in Government before returning for a master's at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He taught high school social studies in Richmond for four years and then served as that same school's full-time college counselor. He now advises families at LVL Prep and works at Overgrad, an education technology company building the tools school counselors use to widen access to college. He has seen this process as a student, a teacher, a counselor, and a builder. Eraina Ferguson, Co-Founder and CPO, Listen to Her Eraina studied at Yale and now sits on its Alumni Schools Committee, interviewing Bay Area students who hope to follow her there. She has spent her career in tech product marketing and content production at Apple, Meta, Udacity and TED, has curated nine TEDx events, and now builds an AI platform that surfaces women leaders to the organizations looking for them. She has sat on the other side of this process and she builds AI products. Very few people can speak to both. Kaila Love, Co-Founder and CEO, Vibe Coding Incubator A UC Berkeley graduate who teaches thousands of people to build with AI, and who deliberately keeps it out of her own music and writing. Before founding her company she spent four years at 10,000 Degrees guiding first-generation high school seniors through college applications and financial aid, and fourteen years as its keynote performer. She has written a book demystifying generative AI for a general audience. She can tell parents what these tools genuinely change, and where she draws the line. Khalil Adams, Software Engineer, AI Interpretability A Davidson College computer science graduate, class of 2022, who interned at Amazon and made one verification process seventy times faster, then spent his first three years out of school on distributed systems and cloud infrastructure at Wells Fargo. He now works in mechanistic interpretability, the work of establishing what is actually happening inside an AI model rather than guessing at it. On a night about what AI is doing to this process, he is the person who looks under the hood. He is also Nancy's son. Nancy Adams, Co-Founder, Adams Harris Consulting, moderating A San Francisco native, a Boston University graduate, and an attorney of twenty-five years in family law with a law degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. She is a founding member of the BATS Scholars Program, which provides under-resourced students with free tutoring, test preparation, mentorship and college counseling. WHO IS HOSTING Adams Harris Consulting is a Bay Area educational consulting practice that works with parents, not students, through the college admissions process. It was founded by Nancy Adams, an attorney, and Latara Harris, a public health educator. They met in sixth grade at Summerbridge and have put four children through this process between them.
