Shimmer & Neurode invite you to a night in San Francisco made for people like us. Not every space is built for neurodivergent brains. This one is. ✨ Come as you are. Be with your people. Expect a happy-hour style evening where authenticity comes first—curated connections, a fireside chat with a luminary guest (to be announced), and a room full of people who get it. 💬 What people said about last year’s event: “It was the first time I didn’t feel like I had to mask at a tech event.” “I walked away with real connections, not just business cards.” “I finally felt seen—and left more hopeful about what’s possible.” ✨ Last year we hit capacity at 200+ people within days—this year will be no different. Secure your spot early, and when you register, share a little about yourself to increase your chances of locking in a spot. Program 6:00–6:30 | Drinks & networking 6:30–7:00 | Fireside Chat with Luminary Speaker 7:00–8:00 | Mixer continues Before you head out: grab free fidgets and neurodivergent-friendly treats to take home. Vermilion Fund, Essence
Join Us for Tiki Happy Hour @ Tonga Room Join Essence and Vermilion for a tiki bar happy hour in San Francisco at the world-famous Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar! On October 8th, we’re bringing together founders, operators, and investors for an evening of island cocktails, mocktails, and snacks under the glow of one of the Bay Area’s most legendary tiki bars. Expect a relaxed, high-energy crowd working across developer tools, AI infrastructure, and technical products. The conversations are always sharp, even if the drinks are topped with tiny umbrellas. Essence is an early stage venture fund created by Tim Chen, with a deep focus on infrastructure — infra, infra, and more infra. Vermilion is an early stage fund created by Ashley Smith, backing technical products built by technical founders. This is our third tiki gathering and our second in San Francisco and the vibes have been immaculate. Whether you’re building, scaling, or investing, it’s a chance to connect with people shaping the next generation of software. We’d love to see you there. If you'd like to bring a friend, send us a message and we can invite. Space is limited so please RSVP. This event is a part of #SFTechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.

Spice King of Zanzibar, Angel List
----------- 🃏 The Spice King’s Poker Nights at Techweek ----------- Founders, investors, LPs — the Spice King summons you. During Techweek, every night Sunday through Saturday, I’m hosting a private poker/founders lounge inside the sleek offices of AngelList. Yes, you read that right: poker in the house that built modern startup investing. I’ve teamed up with AngelList because there’s no better backdrop for big bets and bold bluffs. Think polished floors, startup lore, and the kind of place where “all-in” could mean your next round. *****Drinks & Snacks Included!***** ----------- CHOOSE YOUR FLAVOR: At the table (or around it), you’ve got three ways to play: ----------- - 10c/20c No-Limit Hold ’Em — for the poker-curious - 1/1 No-Limit Hold ’Em — light sparring, the warm-up ring. - 5/5 No-Limit Hold ’Em — where the sharks circle and the pots get real. - Drinks & Socializing — because sometimes the best move is sitting back with a whiskey and letting others show their tells. ----------- Who Belongs Here ----------- Founders who’ve raised $1M+ (you’ve proven you can ante up). Investors & LPs who know that real deal flow happens after-hours. Anyone who understands that poker is about character, risk, and nerve. Why Show Up? Because you’ll learn more about someone’s true game in two hours here than in twenty pitch meetings. Because this is AngelList + the Spice King — two brands that don’t exactly do “casual.” And because in this room, even a losing hand might win you your next deal. ----------- The Ground Rules ----------- No sneaking in: This is badged-in, ID-checked, guest-list-only. If you’re not approved, you’re not crossing that lobby. Respect the seat: Take a spot, then ghost? You’ll be exiled from the Spice King’s future events. No second chances. Special guests: Each night will feature surprise players — the kind who don’t just play the game, they change it. Seats are scarce. The vibe is sharp. The room is swank. — Spice King of Zanzibar https://lu.ma/spicekingofzanzibar ——— RSVP TO OTHER POKER NIGHTS DURING TECHWEEK! ——— ——— RSVP TO OTHER POKER NIGHTS DURING TECHWEEK! ——— Mon Oct 6 - https://partiful.com/e/2s9AgbnP19mlXLQ4zi3C Tue Oct 7 - https://partiful.com/e/60mj0wQK2dFvfD32WS7A Thu Oct 9 - https://partiful.com/e/4ZomYSAK9jE18kGcZez6 Fri Oct 10 - https://partiful.com/e/GDPbUkJbQoOg06yzEaKR Sat Oct 11 - https://partiful.com/e/qXfdoYoNqdhuEGvouM64 ----------- This event is a part of #SFTechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. The Indian diaspora has long been Silicon Valley’s hidden engine for execution and scale. With the rise of AI, this community is moving from builders to category creators. With H-1B uncertainty back in the headlines, the questions for diaspora founders are sharper than ever: where to build, how to scale, and what it takes to go global. AI may be border-agnostic, but talent networks still matter. This is a closed-room session for immigrant AI founders and operators. No panels. No pitch decks. Just small tables, unfiltered stories, and a shared playbook for shipping across time zones. The evening will feature blunt founder stories, live Q&A, and open networking in a safe space for honest conversation and new collaborations. Speakers include: • Anish Das Sarma, founder of Reinforce Labs (Stanford PhD) • Mehak Aggarwal, founder of Sybill ($23M raised) • Mukund Jha, founder of Emergent Labs: Fastest growing AI company in India • Neha Suresh, founder of April (YC S25) Hosted by Boundless Ventures, an AI-first VC fund backing category-defining founders from India and beyond. This intimate, invitation-only dinner will convene a curated group of venture capitalists, angel investors, tech executives, and leaders from the African diaspora to explore the immense, untapped investment opportunities in the African tech ecosystem. Hosted by Rodgers Nyanzi, Founder and General Partner of the venture platform TrailblzrGO, the evening will feature a short, insightful talk on our "Think local, disrupt Global!" thesis—detailing the multi-trillion dollar opportunity in digitizing Africa's core industries and backing diaspora founders in North America. We plan to invite one or two luminary guests, such as a successful exited diaspora founder or a senior tech executive with deep ties to the continent, to share their unique perspectives. What makes this event special is its focus on building a genuine bridge between Silicon Valley capital and the next frontier of global innovation. It offers a rare opportunity for a select group of leaders to move beyond the headlines and engage in a substantive, high-level conversation about a market that will generate the next wave of venture returns. Microsoft for Startups invites you to an exclusive dinner bringing together innovative SaaS and AI startups founded by underrepresented founders with key investors and leaders in the startup ecosystem, that will be held in San Francisco on October 8th. Unlike traditional networking events, this dinner will take place in a small group to encourage deeper and more exchanges. Founders will have the opportunity to present their startups, engage in meaningful discussions, and forge connections with potential investors and influential figures who are shaping the future of the tech landscape. Join us for an evening of gourmet dining, strategic networking, and the chance to be part of the next wave of tech innovation. Please note: All applications will be reviewed before confirmation, and detailed logistics will be shared upon acceptance. Given the limited number of places and the restricted format, it is essential to commit to being present if you choose to participate. Looking forward to seeing you there! The Microsoft for Startups team This event is a part of #SFTechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.

Ecotone
This salon invites discussion on LifeLanguage companies and their use of AI as a force for good in healthcare. LifeLanguage companies specialize in building new AI models to understand the languages of life—proteins, RNA, and DNA. These companies differ from traditional biotech in that they investigate these languages not with wet-lab approaches but with GPUs. AlphaFold is a leading example in this nascent space and won the Nobel Prize last year. Since then, many startups have modeled their teams after the AlphaFold team, generating sister models that rearrange protein space to form combinations that would have taken evolution hundreds of millions of years to create. These new rearrangements have special properties for curing human disease, strengthening agriculture, and improving manufacturing. At Ecotone, our mission is to pioneer the next frontier: a model we call Hawaiian Diamond, capable of reading the human genome-as-a-first-language. The challenge is that AlphaFold was possible because of 3D protein data (PDB), where each protein structure serves as a spatial scaffold. For DNA, which is an encoded information space, no such training data exists (AlphaGenome, NT, etc have a priori constraints). Our breakthrough is a novel method to create this data by shifting from spatial to functional understanding. We interlace, arrange, and layer genomic outputs to build a functional scaffold—the "Point Cloud Feature"—that assigns meaning to sections of DNA. Hawaiian Diamond, trained on these scaffolds, will directly pinpoint the root causes of disease, generating the GPS coordinates needed by DNA-guided medications (e.g., CRISPRs) to cure all 10,000 genetic diseases. This will improve the lives of approximately 800 million people and begin the process of fully annotating the mysterious, unresolved sections of our DNA. Come and discuss over champagne [no oysters, too risky :(] at a secret cozy space. Thanks to our sponsors Columbia University Venture Community (CVC SF) and #SFTechWeek. Format: Fireside chat followed by conversation and good vibes. Location will be made available the day before the event. This event is a part of #SFTechWeek—a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to bring together the tech ecosystem. Learn more at www.tech-week.com.

From prototypes to production, hardware founders navigate complex challenges: sourcing, scaling, funding - you name it. At Pensa, we believe these challenges are best solved when leaders share what’s working — and what’s not — with each other. In this special SF Tech Week edition of Pancakes* with (*full disclosure: no pancakes are served), we’ll bring together 10–12 hardware founders and leaders for an intimate open breakfast conversation about the challenges of the hardware ecosystem. The topics we discuss are determined by the attendees to ensure an interesting and rewarding conversation, but often range from design and engineering decisions to manufacturing strategies, fundraising, and founders’ lessons learned. What to expect: Pancakes* is a small, curated gathering designed for candid discussion, peer learning, and building lasting founder networks. Whether you’re iterating on your first prototype or scaling production, you’ll leave with fresh perspectives, potential collaborators, and a stronger support network. Pensa participants: Mark Prommel – Industrial Design Lead Marco Perry – Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Lead Kathy Larchian – Business Lead Pensa is an innovation studio that brings product design, strategy, and engineering together under one roof, to turn complexity into clarity and ideas into real-world products. Thursday, October 9 | 9:30–11:00 AM | San Francisco, CA (location TBA) Participation is free, but space is limited and curated. We look forward to meeting you! Companies with diverse leadership & boards outperform, innovate faster, and make stronger decisions. Join us for a candid coffee chat during SF Tech Week on how leaders, communities, and companies can turn this moment into momentum. We’ll chat and share actionable strategies, and explore how to build pathways that expand access and accelerate impact.
