Driving a Digital Ecology Relay: What is at Stake
Santa Monica
·
THE PORT GLOBAL, GLOBAL PORTAL INSTITUTE
No ecology, no economy. No biosphere, no business. Today, nature-based innovations are leading the way in integrative approaches that apply precious climate assets towards modern market applications, scaling successful millennia frameworks that parallel biodiversity adaptation. Humanity holds the key to a legacy that is its own, translating vital resources into commodities with nature-based elements driving trillion-dollar economies.
From the historical and geographical heart of both the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania, we can now leverage the solutions that have already been in existence since the wild beginning of mankind. This conversation brings to discussion something bigger than the market, something that is not a challenge for tomorrow but an immediate urgency that starts here at the crossroads of tech and new models of transmission of threatened millenary intelligence, to scale longevity and dividends rather than disappearance.
Following presentations at Climate Week NYC and the Davos World Biodiversity Forum, and ahead of COP 30 in the Amazon, this session held by the Global Portal institute* in partnership with The Port Global** will explore these respective leverages, including:
— A global Nest-Work mapping strategic human-environment interactions to encode biodiversity and reinforce adaptive actions;
— The establishment of platforms across Diasporic communities for knowledge transfer, impact, and investment;
— The enabling of legacy practices and tools to properly value and scale critical resources.
This international event, taking place for the United Nations International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, will be broadcast between the Americas and Asia from Los Angeles, São Paulo, and Athens (Greece).
--- SPEAKERS (ANNOUNCED SOON) ---
Crucial millenary regions’ commitments toward disruptive technologies in their fields — particularly in agriculture, climate, energy, and logistics shared between the Mediterranean and the Amazon Basin — combined with the wake-up call of current natural disasters, bring together the most precise combination of representatives from civil society, policy-makers, industry leaders.
After embracing these issues creating meaningful local connections for innovation and network reinforcing strategic actions for nearly a decade, The Port Global has partnered with GPI to leverage the next major opportunity: the millenary praxis held by the Hellenic Republic, in parallel to other long-standing civilizations.
Speakers with experience at the intersection of digital development and environmental education will highlight the essential elements that can already be applied to businesses, markets, and other ecosystems.

Builders x Backers: The Next Wave in Venture
Venture capital isn’t broken—but it’s due for a reset. Too often, funding chases unicorns while steady-growth companies get overlooked. Our funding solutions back bold founders building lasting businesses in under-invested categories like CPG, ParentTech, EdTech, and Women’s Health.
Join us for a morning with builders, backers, and funding to explore a new model of venture—one that’s more human, grounded, and possible.
Through an interactive discussion, we’ll cover:
1) Why now is the right time to think about alternative funding models
2) How founders benefit from capital paired with real support
3) What it means for investors and founders to engage beyond the traditional approach
4) You’ll leave with fresh perspectives, meaningful connections, and opportunities to help shape the next wave of venture.
Hear from:
- Kate MacCabe, Founder and Digital Advisor of Flywheel Strategy
- Lizzy Reano, Chief Creative Officer of Collective Women's Leadership
- Chris Yang, Co-President of Shopline
Chris will unpack the ways Shopline is investing not only in a platform that accelerate growth for businesses, but also their non-traditional approach to infusing capital into the most promising emerging brands.
Lizzy will share how she’s built CWL from the ground up on the foundation of self-advocacy, and why capital paired with mentorship is key to building ventures that last.
Kate and the Flywheel Strategy team translate business vision into actionable roadmaps—grounded in today’s realities and built for tomorrow’s growth. She'll highlight the untapped opportunities investors and founders alike can leverage to create win-win capital and brand growth combinations.

APIs to AI: Infrastructure repurposed
As AI agents move to production, a critical infrastructure gap has emerged: how to securely connect AI systems to existing tools and data. Model Context Protocols (MCPs) are emerging as a standard solution, and companies building production implementations are discovering surprising insights.
This fireside chat brings together Jon Dahl (Co-founder and CEO, Mux) and Michael Grinich (Founder and CEO, WorkOS)—two technical founders who have shipped production MCP integrations. Mux discovered that years of focus on video infrastructure had created valuable primitives that were the perfect AI building blocks such as storyboard extraction for content moderation, while WorkOS solved the enterprise authentication challenges essential for secure deployments.
Both saw a broader pattern: established API businesses often have infrastructure that becomes incredibly valuable for AI workflows, even when not originally designed for that purpose. This raises questions about how companies should evaluate existing assets for AI integration.
Expect a candid conversation about technical realities, integration speed, and strategic considerations. Two founders discussing what works, what doesn't, and how the MCP ecosystem is rapidly evolving.
