/ About this event
Join us at Alif HQ for an evening of networking and a conversation that goes a layer deeper than the usual.
We talk about AI as if it thinks the way we do. It "reasons," it "understands," it "hallucinates." These words borrow from the human mind, and they may be hiding more than they reveal about how machines actually behave.
Salma Alkhoudi is a Stanford PhD candidate who studies the history of "intelligence" as a concept and has worked on building Arabic large language models. Dr. Ubadah Sabbagh is a neuroscientist trained MIT's McGovern Institute.
Together they'll ask what we lose by measuring AI against ourselves, what the brain, the swarm, and the model can each teach us, and what a better vocabulary for machine intelligence might look like.
