The Forward Deployed Engineer is the role every AI company is suddenly hiring for -- technical, fast-moving, and embedded directly with customers. Postings are up sharply this year.
By the end of the afternoon you'll have an honest picture of the day-to-day from people who live it, the specific traits hiring managers screen for, real practice scoping an ambiguous problem under time pressure, and a written assessment of whether the role fits you.
First, we’re hosting a panel. Hear from people who actually do this job -- what a normal week looks like, what's harder than it sounds, and how they ended up in the role. They'll finish by telling us what they'd look for if they were the ones hiring.
Next is the build sprint. Teams get a real, messy problem and a focused block to scope, build, and demo a working prototype. Panelists and mentors float as your client.
Lastly, demos and takeaways. Short demos judged against that same rubric, plus a one-page self-assessment you fill out and take with you.
You leave with a practitioner-informed answer to one question: is this role actually for me? and whether or not you end up wanting this job, you'll get a close look at how AI companies actually ship, and a night of building with people figuring out the same thing.
