/ About this event
People are already using chatbots as a therapist, a sounding board, and a 2am friend. Most of these models have never been tested for that job in any serious way.
Vals AI is hosting a happy hour during SF Tech Week to talk about it. Where do models help? Where do they fail? And who decides what “good” looks like when the stakes are someone’s wellbeing?
We’ve been studying these questions through our work on AI safety in teen conversations, and the broader challenge of evaluating AI for mental health was recently covered by Politico.
Who should come? Researchers, clinicians, builders, safety folks, founders, and anyone with a take on how AI should show up for people in distress.
What to expect? A short presentation from Caroline Figueroa and Andrea Mock sharing findings and what we’re learning from our work, followed by snacks, refreshments, and plenty of time to meet others working on these questions.
About Vals AI Vals AI is an independent AI benchmarking company. We evaluate models on real-world tasks and publish the results, so the people building with AI and the people affected by it can see how models actually perform.
